• Could you please briefly introduce yourself and tell us about your role?

Hello! My name is Leslie Kim, and I am a third-year university student studying Information Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. I’ve been coding on my own for the past few years, primarily in Java, and I have a strong interest in cybersecurity and UI/UX design. I am currently working as an intern at.0100dev, with a focus on front-end development .

• What motivated you to join as an intern in Korea, and how did you make that decision?
  어떻게 한국 인턴으로 합류하게 되었나요?

I felt that the opportunity to work at a company in another country, especially as an intern, was something not many people get to experience. I wanted to challenge myself by working in a different cultural and professional environment while gaining perspectives that I wouldn’t have been able to get from a more traditional internship experience.
다른 나라의 기업에서, 특히 인턴으로서 일할 수 있는 기회는 누구나 쉽게 경험할 수 없는 특별한 일이라고 생각했습니다. 완전히 다른 문화적, 직업적 환경에서 일하며 스스로에게 도전해 보고 싶었고, 기존의 전형적인 인턴십 경험에서는 얻을 수 없는 새로운 관점들을 배워가고 싶어 한국행을 결심하게 되었습니다.

• What are you looking forward to the most while working at 0100dev?
  제로백데브에서 일하면서 기대되는 부분은 어떤 게 있을까요?

I was most excited about experiencing a new work environment and culture that differs from what I’m familiar with in the United States. I was also looking forward to gaining experience in a startup environment and learning how real products are developed for clients. Since much of my previous experience had been personal or academic projects, I was eager to see how software is built and managed in a more professional setting.
미국에서 익숙하게 겪어왔던 것과는 다른, 새로운 근무 환경과 기업 문화를 경험해 보는 것이 가장 기대되었습니다. 또한 스타트업 환경을 직접 겪어보고, 실제 고객을 위한 제품이 어떻게 개발되는지 배우고 싶었습니다. 이전까지의 경험은 주로 개인 프로젝트나 학교 과제에 머물러 있었기 때문에, 보다 프로페셔널한 환경에서 소프트웨어가 어떻게 구축되고 관리되는지 정말 확인하고 싶었습니다.

• Could you briefly describe the tasks or projects you are currently handling at 0100dev?
  현재 제로백데브에서 맡고 있는 일은 무엇인가요?

I’m currently working on an HR management system specifically for 0100dev. My team and I are using React and TypeScript for the front end and plan to use Firebase for most of the backend operations. At the moment, I’m responsible for managing the database and developing the employee-facing screens.

This is the first time I’ve worked on a project that will be actively used by others, so I’m making a conscious effort to prioritize usability and the overall user experience throughout development.
저는 현재 제로백데브 자체 인사 관리 시스템(HR management system) 개발 프로젝트에 참여하고 있습니다. 저희 팀은 프론트엔드에 React와 TypeScript를 사용하고 있으며, 백엔드 작업의 대부분은 Firebase를 활용할 계획입니다. 현재 저는 데이터베이스 관리와 직원용 화면 개발을 담당하고 있습니다. 타인이 실제로 활발하게 사용할 제품을 개발하는 것은 이번이 처음이기 때문에, 개발 과정 전반에서 사용성과 전반적인 사용자 경험(UX)을 최우선으로 고려하며 세심하게 노력하고 있습니다.

• How do you hope to grow and develop through this internship experience?
  이번 인턴쉽을 통해 어떻게 발전하고 싶은가요?

I hope to collaborate with a variety of people while expanding my practical knowledge of different programming languages, hosting environments, and technologies. Since great products are rarely built by one person alone, I also hope to strengthen my teamwork and collaboration skills throughout this internship.
다양한 사람들과 협업하면서 다양한 프로그래밍 언어, 호스팅 환경, 기술에 대한 실무 지식을 넓히고 싶습니다. 훌륭한 제품은 결코 혼자서 만들 수 없기 때문에, 이번 인턴십 기간 동안 팀워크와 협업 능력을 한층 더 강화하고 싶습니다.

• Is there anything you would like to say to future global interns looking to join 0100dev?
  제로백데브를 찾는 글로벌 인턴들에게 전하고 싶은 말이 있다면?

Although the language barrier can be a challenge at times, I encourage anyone who is interested to give the opportunity a try. I think 0100dev is a great fit for people who enjoy gaining different experiences through projects. The company gives you a significant amount of ownership over your work, allowing you to make meaningful contributions rather than simply following assigned tasks. The environment is also fairly fast-paced, making it a good fit for people who are proactive, enjoy taking initiative, and are comfortable building and learning independently.
때로는 언어 장벽이 도전 과제가 될 수도 있겠지만, 관심이 있는 분들이라면 꼭 이 기회에 도전해 보라고 응원하고 싶습니다. 제로백데브는 프로젝트를 통해 다양한 경험을 쌓는 것을 즐기는 사람에게 정말 잘 맞는 곳이라고 생각합니다. 회사는 직원에게 업무에 대한 상당한 자율성과 오너십을 부여하기 때문에, 단순히 주어진 작업만 따라 하는 것이 아니라 스스로 의미 있는 기여를 할 수 있습니다. 개발 환경 또한 꽤 빠르게 진행되므로, 주도적이고 솔선수범하며 스스로 구축하고 배우는 데 익숙한 분들에게 좋은 성장의 기회가 될 것입니다.
